i have to register with driver detective also will their be a charge to fix the 6 drivers……….its unclear whether there is or not i haven’t gone deep into there web-site
Chosen Answer:
You should never pay for software like this. Drivers are free. See which drivers need to be updated and write them down. Go to manufacturer for each of these products and locate the downloads on their website. Most, if not all of them come with driver updates. Download the update, install it, and it will ask you to reboot. Do this for each item to be updated.
If you can not locate the manufacturer’s website, Windows will attempt to do it for you. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager and locate, in the hierarchy, the item to be updated. Right click on it and locate ‘properties’. From here, there should be a few buttons. Click on the one named ‘Update Drivers’ and select ‘Check for new Drivers from web’ and it should work.
Drivers essentially tell a piece of hardware (sound card, video card, etc) how to work. Sometimes, there can be errors or bugs in the code, and the manufactures have to update this. Instead of making you buy a whole new piece of hardware, they simply update the software or Drivers for the specific piece of hardware.
REMEMBER: These programs are a waste of money. You can check to see which drivers need to be updated manually in the Device Manager. Likewise, if using Windows Vista, Microsoft will automatically find and queue driver updates within Windows Update for you to download and install.

you pay for the software, it does a ‘free’ scan then it tells you you have drivers out of date, if you want to see what they are and get them downloaded and installed for you, you have to pay for the software to do that. How much is it? I’ve used Uniblue Driver detector for $29 and it worked good, though you usually only use it about once a year or so.

If you are not sure you need updated drivers, you don’t. Save your money and don’t go looking for trouble. Windows has a habit of making you well aware of any problems whether you like it or not.
Hi, like someone already said you have 2 choices:
the old way, download every single drivers manually, or the new possibilities offert by programs like driver detective, that can save off time
and download automatically every drivers you need.
For further information read this tutorial-guide that explain all operations,
with a fast scansion you can resolve.
I use it and usually start a system scan every 2-3 weeks, a must above all for video drivers!
