no way driver detective is such a horrible program it is going to make ur pc/mac 10x slower
anti virus system i use is Avast you can go to http://www.download.com to download a free trail and it trail last so long and i have been satisfied with this product for a while now it does not slows down my pc and bock any virus and worms…and my pc is 5 years so i know how it feels

or u can reboot the computer to clear any slow problems and then download the product but with the reboot most of the systems file will be deleted depending on the rebooting system used

Your computer gets slower the more you install and uninstall programs, You need to defragment your hard drive and clean out unused programs and files periodically.
If the Operating System (probably Windows) was reinstalled then your computer should be faster. You need to stop programs start up that don’t need to, they slow down your computer by running in the background unnecessarily. watch thisa video to find out how

A good free antivirus that use the least amount of system resources is Avira

Driver detective loads drivers only in to your computer. It works quite well but can’t detect system drivers.

I also use Trend Micro internet security, which includes anti-everything (virus, malware, spyware) & also comes with net-nanny for the kids & peace of mind.
Both driver detective & Trend Micro cost money, but their worth it, especially the anti-everything

I used avg 7 but version 8 gave me some slow-down problems so I switched to Avast (as Brittney mentioned) about 4 months ago, turned off most of its “providers” (processes that run to protect specific activities) and it’s been much better. I hear good things about Avira (as MB suggested) too. I’ve been using ZoneAlarm (also free) for my firewall for several years. Comodo is another good one.

A driver is a program that acts as an interface between your operation system and a piece of hardware. Eg. a mouse, keyboard, and printer all have drivers. You can use a driver from the company that made the device or one of windows’ generic drivers (if there is one). So if you’re not having a hardware problem, you don’t have to worry about them.

My computer is 6 1/2 years old and doing fine :)

    Hi,
Driver Detective is a very good program, but in this case maybe you need come to fix your problems, I think a registry cleaner, like registry mechanic that you can download at address below.
Registry cleaners usually let to improve PC performance, but make a backup copy of reg file before start cleaning.
